Steve Jobs’ widow may give away her fortune: Who is Laurene Powell Jobs?

Laurene Powell Jobs holds a significant position among the most financially prosperous women in the world.

Her wealth is valued at approximately 22 billion euros, but, interestingly, she is indifferent to wealth despite having married Steve Jobs in 1991.

Born in 1963 in West Milford, New Jersey, Powell attained a degree in Economics and Political Science from the University of Pennsylvania.

Shortly after completing her Master’s, she was already working on Wall Street at Goldman Sachs. She co-established the food company Terravera, initiated the College Track program and embarked on a journey across North America for talks and symposiums.

During one such event, a conference at Stanford in 1989, she found herself seated next to an unfamiliar man. It was Steve Jobs, the guest speaker.

Their affection developed swiftly and, in just two years, they welcomed their first daughter. Their union continued until Jobs‘ passing in 2011.

Laurene Powell Jobs’ new worth after Steve Jobs’ passing

His death resulted in Laurene inheriting the Steven P. Jobs Trust, holding nearly 40 million Apple shares and 7.3 percent ownership in the Walt Disney Company, amounting to 10bn dollars.

Upon inheriting this fortune, Laurene was resolute in her commitment to philanthropy – investing, contributing and aiding causes.

Much like her approach with College Track, her aim was to continue her individual narrative, without relying on a single dollar from her late husband.

In an interview, she expressed her intention to donate 3.5bn dollars over the next decade.
